The historic charm, the property really represents old Vegas as it is Vegas's oldest operating hotel and casino "not the first". The style has a Knotts Berry farm feel to it, so I'm a fan. I like the old fashioned decor and it is a compact micro hotel. So not a lot of walking. It isn't an old outdated oversized behemoth of a property like the Sahara or the Rio. And it is located in the very heart of the Fremont St experience which keeps me very entertained for free. The guests seem to be a mostly older and mature crowd. where as the D Hotel attracts a lot of heavy drinking trashy tourists. No resort fees!

The rooms have no extras but all the necessities -- including luggage rack, air conditioner, hair dryer, ironing board & iron, toiletries -- and all in a charmingly retro style right down to the antique dial phone and bakelite radio. There's a great cafe on the main floor, a fine Deli even in the small hours, and a steak house if you want it. The gambling machines that occupy the rest of the main floor were a colourful surprise, but not worrisome. And the covered historic pedestrian street outside, known as "The Fremont Experience", is both immensely entertaining and a refuge from the sun.

Convenient parking, refrigerator, comfortable bed,and helpful staff. Given free slot play at their players club. Ended up winning some money. The a/c system worked very well and the shower had adequate pressure and warm water. Location fantastic close to all downtown casinos and attractions. A post office is also very nearby. The Apache has a good restaurant and lots of gaming machines and gaming options. My room was right across from the elevator so going back and forth was a breeze. So there's a lot to like.

The guy at reception was really nice and I appreciated his honesty that it would be noisy (St Patrick's day) but that my room was as quiet as they could offer (it was fine with the AC unit acting as white noise and ear plugs). The room was really clean. The location was right in the middle of everything and the entrance felt safe for a solo female arriving alone on foot. The bus stop to the airport was right outside too.

Clara

Old school Las Vegas. My room was small and basic but clean, and comfortable. You could walk right out onto on Fremont st. I got what I paid for and was satisfied with the value. Staff was friendly. Basic, but fine. Loved the historical feel and the stories of paranormal experiences added a little sense of adventure to the stay. I ate at both the Cafe and Benny's BBQ. Both were good.
